Big Country Raw makes frozen raw food for dogs and cats, much of it from Ontario-raised chicken and turkey and pasture-raised beef, along with raw bones, toppers and supplements. We keep a wide selection in our freezers at 376 Kingston Rd. This guide explains the range so you can pick the right box. If you're new to raw, start with our raw diet guide.
Dinners
The Dinners (Chicken, Turkey, Beef, Duck, Pork, Lamb and Fish) mix meat, bone and organ with fruits and vegetables. Big Country Raw labels its Dinners complete and balanced for all life stages, so they can be your pet's whole diet; check the carton for each recipe. Each carton holds 4 lb (1.8 kg). Chicken or Turkey Dinner is an easy place to start.
Breeder Blend and Country Blend
These mix poultry with green beef tripe and organ meat: Breeder Blend is chicken with tripe, and Country Blend is turkey with tripe. Tripe has a strong smell that many dogs love, so these blends are popular with picky eaters. Big Country Raw makes them for dogs and cats.
Pure single proteins
Pure recipes, such as Pure Chicken, Pure Beef and Pure Kangaroo, are meat, bone and organ from a single animal, without fruits or vegetables. They are made for people who build their own raw meals or add their own supplements, and for pets that need one protein. Feed them as part of a balanced plan rather than on their own. Kangaroo is a common choice for dogs with food allergies, because few dogs have eaten it before.
Fare Game for cats
Fare Game recipes, such as Chicken, Salmon & Beef, are made for cats and labelled complete and balanced. They come in ½ lb packs, four to a 2 lb carton, so you only thaw what you need.
Raw bones and chews
Marrow bones, flat rib bones, turkey and lamb necks, kangaroo tails and chicken feet. Big Country Raw suggests recreational bones 2 to 3 times a week. Always stay with your dog while they chew, and choose a size they can't swallow whole.
Toppers and supplements
Fermented goat milk, sardines and whole herring, Upsides and organic pumpkin purée, and Thrive salmon, herring and hemp seed oils. These go on top of a meal and are not complete diets. Our guides to pumpkin and fish oil explain when they help.
